Ministry Philosophy

My passion is expressed primarily in teaching, discipling, and equipping others for ministry. I enjoy working as part of a team and encourage believers to appropriate this model. Working on a team is fun and builds strong relationships. Creativity is essential in developing a dynamic ministry that engages learners of every generation.

Personal Summary

I was born in June of 1958 in Atlanta, Georgia. As a child I always wanted to be a teacher. Teachers had the greatest influence during my formative years.

At a very young age my grandmother led me to Christ. Her godly example of humility, gentleness, and selflessness left a lasting impression. The date that I accepted Jesus as my Lord and my God is inexact. I cannot remember my life apart from Christ. I believe every believer is called into ministry when they are saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ.

In May 2014 I will celebrate thirty-five years of marriage to my husband. I have known since childhood. We have three adult children and three young grandchildren. Orhan and I attended elementary and high school together. After graduating from high school we each went to college and married shortly after graduation.

Orhan attended Stanford University earning a M.D. and Ph.D before we moved to Texas for his residency training. He is currently full professor of Radiology at UT Southwestern Medical Center and also works as a research scientist.

Giving and showing mercy are Orhan's spiritual gifts. His interests are travel, sports, and mentoring. I also enjoy travel. We have visited multiple US cities and over a dozen countries.

Our children are Kemal who was born on June 20, 1982; Melek was born on October 7, 1984 and; Haluk was born on August 17, 1991.

Future Goals: I am currently a part of a cohort group of twelve women. We are studying a curriculum designed by Entrust ministries. Our practical study includes shepherding, facilitating small groups, hermeneutics, and developing a discerning heart. In the spring of 2015 I plan to study in Switzerland to complete the third module. After completing all four modules I will be equipped to co-lead a new group with the goal of becoming a lead facilitator. My goal is to train disciplers who will then invest in the spiritual growth of other individuals.
